Real Wedding: Susan & Mark’s Citizen Hotel Wedding
Susan and Mark were married last summer at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by one swank reception at The Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento. Set to the tones of silvery shimmer and crisp summer white, Susan and Mark’s wedding was oozing with beautiful details. Once the sun went down, the lighting design and entertainment by Extreme Productions took the energy to a whole new level and the dance floor was as packed as I’ve ever seen one.
After over a year of planning and designing this wedding alongside Mark and Susan, seeing this wedding come together was a dream. And, thank you so much to The Memory Journalists, who captured every detail flawlessly.
Congratulations Susan and Mark! You are truly one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever worked with!

Jamie & Eric, Highlight Film from Frontside Films
If you want to see what true love looks like, you may want to take a look at this highlight film from Frontside Films. Jamie & Eric were married at The Old Sugar Mill last September and 2Chic was there to ensure that their day was stress-free, smooth and beautiful. When I saw how relaxed Jamie & Eric are in this film, I knew for sure that our job was well done. And, check out how beautiful this couple is, too. We loved working with them!
2Chic on Style Me Pretty
We’re always thrilled to have our work showcased on Style Me Pretty. Last week, Jim & Lenora’s Crocker Art Museum Wedding was featured on their Little Black Book blog. SMP did an amazing job of sharing the highlights of Jim & Lenora’s wedding day, which I had the honor of planning and designing. I absolutely loved working with this couple to create their perfect day and the images from True Love Photo continue to stun me over and over.
For today, please enjoy the feature on SMP, and soon we’ll be sharing more of our favorite images with you.
Inspired By: Chanel
One of the first words I think of when I hear ‘Chanel’ is classic. Her timeless pieces attract generation after generation of women. Every item is eloquently designed for exquisite beauty. Whether it be her tweed suit, pillbox hats, the little black dress, pearl jewelry or Chanel No.5 perfume; you can guarantee that it will be distinguished. Those classic interlocking double ‘C’s are probably one of the most recognizable fashion brands in the world. I am sure we can all picture perfectly the Chanel chain-strapped quilted handbag. (That famous handbag has been around since 1955 and is still in high demand.)
I came across this Versace dress on The Cinderella Project blog and couldn’t get it out of my head. It was so beautiful and feminine, yet still had a tinge of funk to it. That pink color instantly made me think of Chanel and the pink quilted handbag and pink tweed suit made famous by Jackie O. So, it thought I would have a little fun and make a Chanel inspired pink board and embrace everything girly and classic. Because you can’t beat classic beauty and elegance, and that is exactly what Chanel embodies.
Event Solutions Idea Factory, Las Vegas
Earlier this month, Aubrey and I packed our bags for Las Vegas to attend the Event Solutions Idea Factory. This is the 2nd year in a row that 2Chic has attended this amazing conference and once again, I was incredibly impressed with the education, the presentations and the new products showcased at the conference.
Why is this important to our clients? Well, we were the first planners/designers in Sacramento to see the 2012 product releases from La Tavola, Wildflower and many other amazing companies. We had the honor of teaching and attending event design courses geared towards the latest trends…and we got a little hang time with some of the industry greats like Preston Bailey, David Tutera and Sahsa Souza to hear their take on what’s hot for 2012! While all of these designers knocked my socks off, I do have to say that I was quite partial to Warner Bros. own Special Events Planner, Hillary Harris, who wowed me with her presentation the latest trends in celebrity events {OK, so I might just be more partial than most to my previous employer and co-workers at The WB!}
All in all, it was an amazing conference! We can’t wait to implement some of these new trends in our events. And, we’re so thankful for new memories made with some of our great friends that we run into there every year! Enjoy a few photos from the show!

Real Wedding: Nicole & Aleksey’s Granite Bay Soiree {Part 1 of 2}
This past September, we had the pleasure of planning one heck of a wedding celebration for Nicole & Aleksey, who were married at a private estate in Granite Bay. Filled with Russian and Jewish traditions and tons of flair, this wedding was one for the books! Following the lavishly decorated ceremony and quite the feast, guests were entertained by a stunning Brazilian dance performance and danced the night away to the sounds of B Sharps. The party continued until 2am, when some cute little guys in uniforms came and said “shut the music off”. Today, we’re featuring the pre-ceremony and ceremony photos as part one of this three part series. Get ready for loads of amazing photos by Bellus Photography, my friends, because here they are!

Continuing Education a’la Preston Bailey {and his top 10 Event Must Haves}
Three weeks ago, thanks to my wonderful friend Cho at The Wedding Planning Institute, I was beyond blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime – to attend the Wedding Faire and Symposium as a member of Preston Bailey’s team. Preston, to me, is THE industry leader when it comes to event design. His creations are awe inspiring and he, himself, even more beautiful ~ which explains his worldwide notoriety. After being greeted at the door by Preston with a big hug and hello {can you say chills up my spine…}, I spent the weekend attending sessions presented by Preston, Nikki Khan, Sasha Souza, Brian Rafanelli and Philippe Lee.
And Now, I’d like to share what I learned from Preston Bailey with you. The following are Preston’s “Top 10 Event Must Haves” that he shared with us. According to Preston {and I have to agree!}, these are the elements that each wedding should have to make it fabulous and wow your guests:
1.) A Dramatic Entrance: Wow your guests upon arrival.
2.) An Elaborately Decorated Aisle
3.) One Large Statement Piece {an ice sculpture, floral sculpture or structural piece}
4.) Exciting Bars and Cocktail Areas: There’s always a ton of guest activity in these areas
5.) An Amazing Escort Card Table {Amen! This is our favorite!}
6.) Unique Food Service {Preston once had soup served in turtle egg shells}
7.) Classic Tablescapes {even at a modern themed wedding, warm those tables up!}
8.) Table Details: Textures, variation and decor accents
9.) The Overall Room Decor: It should evoke feeling
10.) Fun After Parties {And be sure to feed them!}
I loved Preston’s 10 Must Haves! He also mentioned that your wedding should be a reflection of how you entertain in your own home. This will make guests feel the most comfortable and also create an event that is truly you!

Inspired By: Chevron Chic
So, if you’ve read my bio you know that I find wedding inspiration from everything! After seeing this interior design picture from Décor Pad I couldn’t resist making a wedding inspiration board. The bold colors mixed with the chevron rug are so fun and funky, yet not overwhelming.
Not sure how to include the chevron print in your wedding design? Since chevron is already such a bold print, you won’t need to over accessorize. I adored the yellow and turquoise pops of color and decided to pull some pieces of shabby chic furniture from The Find into the design. You could also throw in a little color with a table runner, or in your plates or chairs.
Since fashion is my second love, I had to find a dress that I thought would go perfectly. The lines and draping of the dress seem to mimic the lines of the chevron print. So, if muted subtlety isn’t for you, then here is a hip way to add some color and funk to your wedding!

Real Wedding: Katie & Scott’s Chic Chico Farm Wedding
A Pear Farmer’s Daughter + an Almond Farmer’s Son = A Match Made in Heaven. Katie and Scott are hands down one of the sweetest love stories I’ve seen yet. As children of farming families, their community is tight and Katie and Scott have known each other since they were toddlers. After Scott’s family relocated to Chico, there was a break in their communication, and when they reconnected later in life it was clear that it was meant to be.
Katie and Scott are amazing people, and I am blessed to know them. When it rained on their wedding day, we came up with an amazing Plan B that they loved! A few tents, some market lights and some gorgeous chandeliers tucked neatly inside of an almond huller {with 350 guests situated comfortably inside} turned out to be the perfect scenario. And, of course, it made my day when Katie said it was her perfect princess wedding. I hope you enjoy these beautiful images, courtesy of Anfinson Photography.
After seeing Katie’s unwavering smile through all circumstances, I adopted a “What would Katie Do?” way of life. I’m happy to call Katie and her mom, Debbie, “friends”. I wish that Katie & Scott could get married every summer. {Next time with no rain}
