Simply chic... Fabulously unique

Meadowood Napa Wedding, Seethal + Jason

Meadowood Napa Wedding by 2Chic Events & Marin Kristine Photography

Seethal and Jason had, what I would call, the best wedding of all time. There was nothing about this day that wasn’t absolutely perfect. And, I suppose that is what happens when you begin with one truly genuine, warm and incredibly fun couple, and end with a celebration that matched them to a T.

Seethal + Jason were planning from afar, on the east coast, so it was up to me and my team to locate that perfect spot, one that would fit a couple that I had not yet met. We studied every little detail in their design questionnaire and confidently chose Meadowood, one of our favorite spots that makes choosing a location easy.

We spent just over ten months planning this beautiful soiree at the lovely Meadowood in Napa Valley. I knew the moment that I walked into this venue for the first time that this was the absolute perfect place for Seethal and Jason’s dream design to be brought to life. The surroundings created an incredible sense of beauty and intimacy that just could not be matched at any other venue. It was lush and beautiful and perfect for a stylish couple with a preppy vibe.

Once we secured this perfect spot, and began putting the details together, the design for this wedding really took off. And, once Honey Paperie came into the picture and executed a flawless design of their stationery suite, complete with the perfect custom logo, it all became even more crush-worthy. We were able to incorporate the paperie throughout the entire design and into elements like the champagne escort card table, the menus, the bride and grooms chair backs and the tags on the pashminas. It was a great subtle reminder throughout the day that this event was a reflection of Seethal and Jason’s style and a true celebration of the two of them.

Add in the lush greenery, the amazing food, the carefully selected wines and the meticulously designed details throughout – and there was no doubt that we took every single guests’ breath away. Absolutely no detail was overlooked and the evening exuded a feeling of warmth and a celebratory spirit unlike any I have seen at my many weddings. It was perfection.

Brianna + Eric’s Viaggio Winery Wedding

View More:

Brianna and Eric were married at Viaggio winery in Lodi on the most beautiful summer day that a bride and groom could ask for. The property alone is enough to provide an amazing feast for the eyes, however the beautiful color palette of creamy whites, soft blush and a fresh hint of mint took te beauty of this day to another level. Beautiful blooms, the perfect attire, sweet decor and the most perfect tabletops welcomed their guests in, and added a lovely element of surprise around every corner.

While there are several moments and details of this day that would make anyone’s heart swoon, once you get through peeking at all of this beauty, you must hear Eric’s speech in the highlight reel. It will make your heart skip a beat….and then some. A simple story about meeting in a frozen yogurt shop turned into one of the most amazing love stories. And when you hear Eric tell it, you’ll know and see just how sweet this love is.

The invitations set the tone just perfectly for this day. Designed by Throne Invitations, the custom paperie continued throughout the event as one of the anchors to the design of this day. Custom painted canvases by Brianna’s beautiful mom, Renee, added another layer of personalization to their day.

When guests entered the beautifully draped and up-lit reception area, there were gasps. Once inside, each guest was greeted by abundant blooms and sweet Ginger Elizabeth macaron favors at their place settings – all perched atop the confetti linens by LaTavola. Every detail, down to the custom metallic gold table numbers, was carefully thought out and executed.

Thank you for including 2Chic Events in your amazingly warm and beautiful day, Brianna and Eric! And, of course the rest of the stellar creative team, listed below:

Brianna and her mom were sweet enough to leave us some very kind reviews online and we have shared the one from her beautiful mom, Renee, below.

“From the time my daughter and her fiancé announced their wedding I knew that in order for me to enjoy this magical day without being a nervous wreck, I needed to find the perfect event planner.  I could not be happier with our decision to hire 2 Chic Events for this special day.  Thanks to “Amazing Aimee” Wendell and her very competent staff, my daughter’s wedding day was everything we could have ever imagined.  Aimee was there for us every step of the way with her help, support, and guidance, bringing to life my daughter’s visions for the perfect wedding of her dreams.

Tipping your vendors

tipping guidelines for wedding vendors

We are often asked for advice on how to tip your wedding vendors. While each and every resource will give you different advice on gratuities for wedding vendors {and ultimately it’s up to you whether you’d like to tip and how much}, we have found this article from “Inside Weddings” to be the most accurate in terms of what we typically see at a wedding. This information has been copied from the article on their web site, and you can also view the entire article here.

Crocker Art Museum Wedding

You are nearing your wedding day and many of your vendors have been very kind and helpful throughout the planning process. Should you give them a gratuity? Since tipping is largely considered a voluntary expression of appreciation for good service, it’s up to you whether to tip, but while tipping is not demanded, in many circumstances you are expected to give a gratuity. Ultimately, you as the customer make the decision about who gets tipped and how much. Gratuities are normally extended to vendors who have done more than you expected before the wedding day and on the actual day of your wedding. The estimates presented here are based on more than two decades of professional experience and over 400 weddings.

Preparing to Give
Reflect on the planning process and how the various vendors helped you with the details that led up to your day. Follow your conscience to determine what you feel is right. Be sure to clarify with your vendors if the fee for their service already includes tips for support staff. Since some establishments automatically add a tip to the bill for service to large parties, be careful to avoid unnecessary double tipping. If you choose to extend gratuities, here a few ideas to help you get them in order:

1) In advance, estimate each gratuity and then write a check or place cash into an envelope with the recipient’s name, and/or their title on the front of the envelope. The envelopes can be distributed to the appropriate vendors during or at the conclusion of services on the wedding day. An additional envelope can carry cash to make up for discrepancies once the final bill arrives and the percentages can be tabulated.
2) Write thank-you notes to the vendors who helped you throughout the planning process. Often, a sincere note of thanks is appreciated as much as or more than a tip.
3) Give the planner cash in an envelope and have the wedding planner discreetly pass out the tips to various vendors who have surpassed expectations. Since your planner witnesses more levels of services from your vendors, in public and in private, the planner usually has a broad view of how well the vendors actually execute their services.

Mandatory Gratuities
Transportation and catering always include gratuities (15% to 20%) in the total service fee. Gift basket delivery requires a $2 to $3 per bag or basket to have a bellman deliver to a guest room at a hotel. On occasion, hotel staff will hold a bag or basket behind the front desk and give it to the guest upon check-in, in which case it is wise to tip the front desk manager when you drop off the bags or baskets, just to ensure that your request is executed.

How Much to Give
Since all of your vendors are in the service business, gratuities are a kind and generous gesture of appreciation for going the extra mile to make your wedding day perfect. The following list is of vendors that usually receive gratuities on the wedding day. Keep in mind that gratuities are customary, but not mandatory.

The following receive a gratuity/tip almost all of the time:

Banquet Captain — Oversees the servers and makes sure your guests’ food and beverage wishes are met. Often acts as the head maitre d’ for the reception and works closely with wedding coordinator.
Tip: $1 – $5 per guest.

Hair and Makeup Artists — Assists with all the beauty needs of your bridal party, keeps flow of group while everyone is getting ready.
Tip: 10% -15% of the total fee, whether you go to the salon or they come to you.

Bellman — Assists with loading wedding items, i.e. gifts, flowers at the end of the night, luggage, etc. to your hotel room or car.
Tip: $10 – $20 each.

The following receive a gratuity/tip 60-70% of the time:

Wedding Planner & Team — Assists with all aspects of the pre-wedding planning and wedding day execution. They often serve as the designer, director, producer, therapist, seamstress, dry cleaner, touch-up makeup beauty stylist, coach, consultant, honeymoon suite decorator, bell-hop and bridal party assistant. It is impossible to categorize all the services your professional planner is capable of executing.
Tip: 10% of total service fee.

Catering Manager/Director of Catering/Food and Beverage Director — Assists primarily with the pre-planning of the wedding day and occasionally oversees the Banquet Captain on the day of your wedding At the hotel, they can usually make sure your hotel suite is upgraded, amenities are given and your stay is special. At a private venue or country club, they can additionally oversee the kitchen and bars.
Tip: $50 – $500.

– Musicians.
Tip: $20 – $50 each.

– DJ.
Tip: $50 – $300.

The following receive a gratuity/tip 50% or less of the time:

Photographer & Videographer — A gratuity can be given to the “lead shooter” and/or the assistants on the wedding day or on the day you receive your finished product.
Tip: $40 – $100 each.

Florist/Designer and Team — Whatever the tip, the florist/designer should divide it among the set-up and break-down team.
Tip: $50 – $200.

Brittany + John, Viaggio Winery Wedding

Viaggio Winery Wedding

Brittany and John have the sweetest love story. And, an incredible engagement story {picture a rustic barn on her parents property filled with candlelight}, so it only made sense that their wedding story would be just as magical. From the first time I met them and heard their story, I could see that they were going to be an amazing couple to work with.

Brittany and John were looking for an intimate space for 200+ to host their event with just over 6 months to plan, which is a tough task to achieve. Enter Viaggio, one of our favorite venues to work. With their expansive lawns, their quaint Main Street area that feels exactly like Tuscany and their warm reception space, this was the perfect fit. And, so it began.

Brittany’s obsession with stripes runs just about as deep as mine. You can dive in to either of our closets, office supplies, home decor {we probably also both insist on striped straws to drink from} and find just how deep it runs. When Brittany came to me with a Pinterest board simply named “Stripes”, I fell a little deeper in love with her. This also gave us a fun opportunity to bring some customized decor into their wedding design. {More about the design elements below}.

And, Brittany herself was a stunner on her big day. Those of you know that know me know I am a sap. And, yes – I cried multiple times on this day. Because this love between Brittany and John is so sweet..and I love what I do the most when I have beautiful clients like this. And, stripes…

How we created a design that told their story:

Working with a color palette of bold navy and white stripes, along with soft blush accents, my mission was to design a wedding that showed how beautiful this couple is along with how strong their love is. I believe that the combination of soft, gorgeous flowers and feminine accents incorporated in with the strong stripe pattern was the perfect way to so this. Brittany and John are also both Ag teachers and are tied to the farming community, so we looked for fun ways to include some items in the design that reflected their roots as well.

We created large drum lamp shades with navy and white stripes to accent the reception room, built a custom ceremony backdrop with bold stripes and a crystal chandelier, used stripes in the design of the cake and also had custom striped head table linens made by Wildflower Linens. So. Much. Fun. to design. I love how we were able to bring in this element, in just the right places, without having it overwhelm the room or the design. This allowed us to bring in some contrasting softer touches that really stood out, like the cow bell table numbers, gorgeous flowers and sweet tabletop details.

Amanda + John, Loomis Private Estate Wedding

Sacramento Wedding by Milou and Olin, 2Chic Events

When the perfect couple comes to us with a perfect vision for their wedding, those are the best possible days. The first day that I walked this property with Amanda and her mom, I knew that I wanted to plan design this wedding, big time. When Amanda shared her vision for a Spanish style wedding at her parents home in Loomis, my heart skipped a beat. Her parents home, which had a Spanish style all of it’s own and is set on a property with it’s own private lake was going to be the perfect backdrop for this soiree.

During the design process, the one thing that I loved most was that Amanda was not afraid of color – or pattern or texture. We used a combination of seven different linens for this event and too many flower varieties and colors to even count. We completely threw the idea of choosing a few wedding colors out the window and simply chose what felt right with practically no limits. Now, that is a dream in my book.

Milou and Olin Photography was on hand to capture this day, and I couldn’t be happier with the images.

During the ceremony, Amanda and John exchanged vows with each other, and then Amanda shared some vows with John’s daughter which was one of the sweetest moments on record {and for the record, yes I sure did cry my eyes out!}.

Amanda and John also had very open minds when it came to entertainment, desserts and food. We enlisted one of my favorite Spanish Guitarists to play for the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner which was so romantic and beautiful. Later in the evening, our amazing DJ moved the dance floor into full swing.

Amanda and John chose Paella, which was presented beautifully to their guests, for their main entree.  The presentation was a feast for the eyes and everyones bellies. And then for dessert…ice cream cake along with mini churros served with ice cream and chocolate ganache for dipping. To accompany all of this amazing fare, we had Craft Beers {compliments of Amanda’s family brewery, Knee Deep} and sangria free flowing throughout the evening.

As the sun went down, and the lights in the tent came up, it was truly magical. {And, by the way, designing this tent was by far one of my favorite opportunities I had all year.} Guests danced the night away and enjoyed mingling and celebrating on this incredible October evening. Everything about this day just seemed perfect.

Thank you Amanda and John for allowing 2Chic Events to be a part of your day! Cheers to many years of happiness and love!

Mary + Patrick, Plumpjack Squaw Valley Wedding

Plumpjack Squaw Valley Wedding

“Love on the Truckee River” seems like a cute theme and hash tag for a wedding, right? I absolutely loved it. But, it wasn’t until I heard the toasts at Mary and Patrick’s Plumpjack Squaw Valley wedding that I truly understood what it meant. There was an incredible story behind the hashtag that was years in the making.

Mary and Patrick are two incredible people who were clearly destined to be together. And, I am being completely honest when I say that I have never seen two people more genuinely celebrated on their wedding day. No words could truly describe the energy in the room. And, though I didn’t know a single soul in the room at this wedding, aside from the bride and groom, I felt like they were all my best friends – simply because we were connected through this couple. Close to 200 people filled the resort that evening and had the most fun I have ever seen at a wedding, hands down. Enjoy some of the beautiful images via Eddy Mutch below.

Congratulations to the Sheehans whose second wedding day hash tag was “Sheehanigans”. Perfection.

Kelly + Will, West Shore Cafe Lake Tahoe Wedding

West Shore Cafe Wedding_0032

October in Tahoe is what dreams are made of, in my opinion. And, it doesn’t get much better than a venue perched right on the shore that is reminiscent of a lakefront lodge.

Tahoe Chic pretty much sums up the vibe of this wedding. With plaids, rich colors and textures in the design and the most beautiful bride {please take a moment to swoon over Kelly’s dress!}, this day was near perfect.

While clouds and scattered rain loomed over us throughout the day, we had hoped for the sun to break through for the ceremony. Small windows of blue skies gave us so much hope that we decided to move forward with a ceremony on the dock, providing as many umbrellas as possible. And, just then – when there was no turning back, the skies broke loose with the hardest rain we had seen all day. We went for it anyhow and, although I think I stopped breathing for a solid 15 minutes, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever witnessed.

I absolutely loved the opportunity to work with Kelly and Will to plan their beautiful West Shore Cafe wedding. As you will see, rain didn’t put a damper on the beauty of this day in any way. It was a stunner! Enjoy images my our sweet and talented friend Lyndsay Undseth.

Wood Rodgers Open House Event

Corporate Event Planner Sacramento

Coming from a corporate event planning background, I have to say, I love the opportunity to dive back into a corporate event as often as possible. Wood Rodgers, and engineering firm in Sacramento, hired us last October to produce an Open House event for their clients – an event that turned out to be one of my absolute favorite events in the history of 2Chic.

I worked closely with the team at Wood Rodgers to create a theme for the event and we all agreed to move forward with a “Thursday Night Market”  – creating an upscale, outdoor farmers market. This theme not only allowed us to showcase this amazing locally grown company, but also bring in several other locally grown elements to woo their guests.

As each guest entered, they were greeted with a customized glass for tastings and a market tote bag to be used for the collection of produce, flowers {compliments of Bloomers Floral Design} and more. I think it is safe to say that each guest felt incredibly spoiled while enjoying delicious, food wine and craft beers, which freely flowed throughout the evening, compliments of the oh-so-amazing Beth Sogaard Catering. And, when we capped it all off with desserts from Ginger Elizabeth, Freeport Bakery and the oh-so-amazing Volkswaffle, we had a big hit on our hands!

Check out the details, via photos from Nichole Bremer Photography. We are seriously so thrilled that Nicole captured this day so perfectly!

Nancy + Keaton, Crocker Art Museum Wedding

Sometimes when a couple walks through the door for a consultation you can tell how things are going to go right away. My first thought with Nancy + Keaton was “Oh, this is going to be fun!” I love that Nancy + Keaton wanted to create a wedding that felt a lot like home. Along the way, we found clever ways to infuse their personalities into the design and the events of the day. Every single detail, down to the signature cocktails that they chose, felt like a warm hug from this amazing couple.

When guests arrived, they were greeted with a ceremony space that felt like an outdoor garden. We created a floral lined aisle, and their vows were nestled up against the backdrop of the lush green trees. Next, guests made their way to the historic ballroom for cocktail hour, offering them an opportunity to see just what the venue is all about, with amazing displays of art to enjoy while they enjoyed drinks and bites. Finally, guests were invited into the Courtyard where they would dine under a canopy of lights seated at tabletops that included navy linens, beautiful organic feeling centerpieces and a little additional surprise from the bride and groom in the form of dinosaurs on the tables {one of Nancy’s favorite things}.

Guests were later surprised with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance, a first dance song played by Keaton’s dad, some incredible toasts and a night of dancing with Lovefool playing hits that you can’t help but dance to.

Enjoy some truly amazing images of the evening, compliments of ShodaLove, below. And, you will see why Nancy + Keaton chose to fly Jeremy in from Seattle to capture their day.

Jess + Cody, Terra SF San Francisco Wedding

Terra Gallery Wedding_0029

We are diving a little deeper into the summer of 2015, when a perfect August day in the bay gave way to this beautiful downtown San Francisco wedding.

I always tell my couples that their wedding should truly be a reflection of the two of them combined, and that the best weddings feel a lot like a dressed up version of your own home. Jess + Cody really did an amazing job of letting their style and personalities flow into the design of this event. When we both came to our meetings with similar inspiration, we knew we had to incorporate a few key elements; arrows, a mix of bold patterns and this amazing color palette of peach, mint, marsala, navy and sage. To top it all off, Cody is an amazing graphic designer which really allowed us to run with the design for the wedding on a whole different level. When you scroll down, be sure to check out the invitations, seating chart and more – which are all spot on.

Combining all of this with soft accents of flowers, greenery, ambient light and the sweetest details made it one of the most warm, welcoming, fun evenings I have ever witnessed.

In the end it was simply the perfect environment for an amazing party – complete with the best sister-officiant in history and capped off with a surprise flash mob for the bride and groom. {Yes, really!} Please see video highlight, courtesy go Phillip Alan Films for a snippet of that, along with their guests amazing dance moves.

And now, some amazing images courtesy of our dear friend, Lyndsay Undseth.

And, thank you Jessica + Cody for this sweet review. I love you too!

“I cannot say enough positive things about Aimee – we booked her for our wedding rather far in advance, and I never felt neglected or like she wasn’t completely invested in every detail, even when we were over a year out! I have literally no design sensibility, and I have to keep telling every one of our guests that the beautiful event they enjoyed had everything to do with our amazing planner! Add her attention to detail, sense of humor, and overall awesome communication skills to the fact that she supplied us with wine and good company throughout all our meetings, and you have one happy bride and groom. We love you Aimee! 🙂
